TOKYO - Japan said Monday it was considering whether a pre-emptive strike on the North's missile bases would violate its constitution, signaling a hardening stance ahead of a possible U.N. Security Council vote on Tokyo's proposal for sanctions against the regime. Japan was badly rattled by North Korea's missile tests last week and several government officials openly discussed whether the country ought to take steps to better defend itself, including setting up the legal framework to allow Tokyo to launch a pre-emptive strike against Northern missile sites.

Japan should amend thier constitution. It was written in that they couldn't declare war after WW2 and was because they were some crazy mother fuckers...Generations later, while I'm sure some of the old culture remains, I would guess democracy has earned them the right to declare war if it is needed.

Underneath the crazy Japanese society of anime robots, Catholic school girls and panty sniffing the Japanese are a very strong group of people.

They're like the Klingons from Star Trek, where it's honorable (???) to kill yourself for honor and pride.

I think we should treat Japan just as we have treated Germany after Ww2, we allow Germany to defend itself (would they without America? Prolly not) so we should also allow Japan to so too.

Tho Japan should build some bigass Voltron type Robot and have that robot do battles for them. It would rock!

Oh No! MechaGodzirra!

Japans constitution is the way it is because THEY wanted it like that. During the Korean war, the US encouraged Japan to amend their constitution to allow an army to be established to help staunch the spread of communism, they refused. The Japanese are fully capable of amending their constitution if they so choose without any reprecussions from anyone else in the world, they simply need to vote to amend it, it is not the US that prevents the establishment of a Japanese Offensive force.
