Simplify the tax code but don't cut homeowner's deductions!

Postby Yodi » Wed Nov 02, 2005 9:40 pm

15%? You gotta be kiddin' me. The "realtor union lobby" is saying that doing this will make property values drop. So how did IRS deductions make property values go up??? I NEED equal dollar value deduction just like I NEED equal dollar value deductions on the 527and 401s. Why else would I put up with a crappy employer and a bossy mortgage holder. it's the friggin' American Dream. I've been sold a bill of goods, a pig in a poke, a horse with no teeth (not you, Winter). I don't need the IRS getting a "gotcha" at my expense on top of every other kind of crap they put us thru. Start with the employer tax credit that they get when they employ unemployable urban ex-cons. Don't get me started on government programs. it's a whole 'nuther thread... grrrrr

All I can say is to check out this website along with Neal Boortz's website.

End the IRS!

Americans for Fair Taxation's reply on GWB's botched "tax reform":

Once Jerry Kilgore is elected in Virginia I'm putting up my "Pro-Fair Tax" bumper sticker on the back of my car. And if God forbid, Tim Kaine is elected the Governor of Virginia, I'll urge the Conservatives and Republicans in the Va. General Assembly to give more things a veto-proof majority like we did with Governor Mark Warner. Thankfully the Virginia Republicans have enough backbone left over to give to the national level Republicans.

If we go to a flat national sales tax, I won't mind not being able to deduct that kind of stuff. Cuz with a flat sales tax, and no income taxes businesses from around the world would come here by the masses since it would be so cheap to start up and maintain a business.

Tho either way I'm for streamlining the tax code, but I'd love to see it gone all the way.

I will admit I like the idea of life being simpler. When we were in europe I saw the worst case scenario of everything being provided by the government. everything you got, not necessarily everything you needed. and the national sale stax. so we definately don't want to go all the way. a flat tax has the benefit of being more direct but it won't help us with the state taxes or localities. the IRS is already talking about not crediting payments made to the other blood-suckers. dang revenuers.
