Do animals have souls?

Postby dexman » Tue May 03, 2005 2:22 pm

i was dabbling in the "Life after death" topic and saw that some people did not believe in reincarnation into an animal. im not calling anybody out and maybe that doesnt necessarily say that he or she does not believe that animals have souls but i have actually bumped into several people who do without a doubt in their minds believe that animals do not.

PERSONALLY, i think to say that they do not is preposterous... but ill leave that be (im a "tad bit" biased on this subject, lol). so what do you think and whatre your reasons?

i promise not to pick a fight but as far as everybody else is concerned, youre fair game to them.

Animals have souls/spirit/prana/chi, whatever ya wanna call it. The only difference is they don't have the mental power to perpetuate or even cognize it.

Do animals have souls? It is difficult to tell and impossible to prove. Many people would like to think so, though. Animal souls would not go against many religions, if you are not too dogmatic about your beliefs.

It would really be nice to find out the answers to some of these mysteries. But let me say this...The only problem with giving animals souls concerns at what level do you stop? If a dog has a spiritual aspect or soul, does a chipmunk? A bird? A worm? What about a fly? Or bacteria?

Everyone is intitled to their opinion and I've already posted twice by simply saying "No" But strangely enough I'm guessing that SOMEONE here is WAY too sensitive to accept the FACT that EVERYONE is intitled to their OPINION, so they deleted my last two simple statements of saying "No".

Now, let me ask you a question...Who cares? If you want to say an animal has a soul, then by all means go say it, believe it. But don't expect everyone to follow your beliefs on such, and just because someone disagrees with you or have a different opinion or whatever, that gives you no right to simply delete it or take advantage of what "Powers" you have on this stupid forum. Sheesh, Grow up. I'll say this again. I believe that Animals don't have a soul. Can I prove it? No. Does it really matter? No.

Haha .. but seriously .. I deleted your "no"s not because I disagree w/ you, but because it was just a vague answer.

I didn't mean to strike such a sensitive nerve. I didn't strictly interpret it as negating everything above. It won't happen again b/c next time you say "no" I'll know what ya mean this time around.

Do you believe people have a soul?

This is a belief not something anyone can prove one way or another.

I guess what you have to ask yourself is do you believe in God? And do you believe that God created all things? And if he did does he care more about humanity than he does a cricket, or did he all make them "equal" in his eyes...(soul)...of course he also made grass, rocks, trees....etc.

Or you could take the Gaia route and say the earth itself has a Soul, and all planetary bodies do...that would fix the whole rock has a soul thing, kind of.

I think first we need to define what we believe a soul is before we can identify the fact that certain objects / creatures may or may not have one.

My view of a soul is your connection to God, an undying essence that continues to be even after you're gone from this world.

Now if you believe that all things are created by God, and he cares about the things he's created, then it would make sense that he'd want them hanging around after death just like us humans.

Don't worry though kids, we'll all get our answers........sooner or later.

Well, I asked my cats and haven't gotten a definative answer. Leia, the bitch cat, couldn't be bothered with the question because she was busy - spoiling for a fight & stalking Chewbacca. Chewbacca said yes, I think. He doesn't get subtitles. I asked Luke but he was so busy whining about his empty food dish that I couldn't get any useful opinion from him.
